An entertaining read, a nice break from some of the other books with weightier subjects that I have read lately.Violet also inadvertently discovers many secrets about the members of her family and her community during her investigation, which threatens to further derail her overly quaint existence. Violet Baumgartner is absolutely over the top and insane--by design, of course. Now her Richard is retiring, yes they both have a Richard, and they hope to travel. In an epic battle of wills, Violet goes to increasing lengths to wrest back control of her family, infuriating Cerise and snaring their family and friends in a very un-Midwestern, un-Baumgartner gyre of dramatics. The humor here is a path to something deeper.
